QTBPOC Solidarity Network Netherlands

SUMMARY

From 2025-26, The Hang-Out 070 plans to convene a national network of QTBPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, People of Colour) initiatives in the Netherlands. Over a series of four summits, we plan to develop joint advocacy goals and support members to translate these goals into specific strategies. We additionally plan to map actions that our communities are already taking to respond to challenges they are facing and amplify these nationally to increase their visibility and impact.

Organisations representing marginalised queer identities need to make our voices heard and resist collectively, to ensure the collective safety of all our communities, not just of larger, well-resourced initiatives. A national network will make us more resilient, by creating alternative infrastructures to state- and corporate-led initiatives. It can be a platform to share knowledge, e.g. tactics to activate politicians, NGOs and our communities to stand up for our rights.

Do you represent a QTBPOC initiative that wants to be part of the Solidarity Network or have some resources to recommend? Please reach out to us at thodenhaag@gmail.com for a chat!

This project is supported by ILGA-Europe.

SUMMIT 1: Initiation
September 06, 2025

The main question of this summit is “From safe(r) to brave(r) spaces: Why, how and where to build solidarity for QTBPOC communities?” At this summit, the various organisations that are part of The Hang-Out 070 will take part in a facilitated discussion to identify the most relevant and pressing issues faced by the communities that they represent. We will draw out commonalities and differences in our experiences, as well as set some expectations for the coming year. This summit is intended as a preparatory phase for the national meeting during Summit 2.

SUMMIT 2: Expansion
November 30, 2025

In November, we plan to organise the second summit, where we will invite people representing various QTBPOC communities from across the Netherlands, to continue our conversation on the theme of deepening solidarity among QTBPOC communities in the Netherlands. The summit will involve a frank discussion of previous networks and why they did not survive, as well as some best practices from existing local and national networks.

SUMMIT 3: Action
March 2026 (TBD)

This summit take place over a weekend, to allow for deep discussions on strategies and the path forward, focusing on actions we want to take as a network. The programme will incorporate a workshop and an event curated by our internal partners, in order for participants to leave the summit feeling connected and in community, with new energies to respond to the challenges that we are facing.

SUMMIT 4: Reflection
May 2026 (TBD)

In May 2026, we will organise a final summit for the network members to reflect on the project. We will celebrate our accomplishments, learn from our limitations and discuss the next steps and resourcing available for the network.
