NEW CORE TEAM Member: Facilities' Manager
DESCRIPTION
The Hang-Out 070 has been around for 10 years, and now we have officially become a vereniging (association). We have grown from a queer youth organization centering QTBIPOC to a multi-generational queer network community space centering QTBIPOC, intensively collaborating with at least seven queer communities (Third Space 070, Hindostaans & Queer, Queer Moslims Connect, Noskunos, De Opstand, T-RREx, Wildflower Collective (BarTalk & CORE). After 1-2 years of serving this community, the core team is getting ready to pass on the ball to new core team members to coordinate our beloved queer space. In short, our mission: The Hang-Out 070 Core Team is a group of QTBIPOC carrying out the vision of The Hang-Out 070 (THO 070) as a safer space for QTBIPOC in The Hague. We have an overview of all the THO 070 communities and work together with them to co-create this space as a base to plant seeds for all of us to thrive in this world.
WE DO THIS BY
- Very practically, making sure the space is running
- Holding space for exchanging resources
- Honouring the groundwork placed by previous generations of THO community members
- Listening to the ideas and desires of the communities
- To hold up the values of collectivity and autonomy by creating sustainable structures of organizing
- Stimulating communities to connect with each other and organize for the broader THO community
- Building political solidarity between these very diverse communities
- Building in strategies of decentralizing power
- Coming up with contingency plans
- Bringing in the knowledge and skills needed to sustain such a community
- Facilitating infrastructure for all the above
- Each Core Team also prepares and improves structures of working for the next Core Team.
WHAT DO WE OFFER?
- A space for learning and growing together
- Inspiring environment to develop programs with the Queer communities
- Financial compensation of at least 300 euros per month (excluding VAT)
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Commitment for two years, minimum of 14 hours per month. It might require more hours occasionally.
- Team player, eager to learn and grow together
- Active investment in connecting QTBIPOC communities
- Has some experience with community building
- Actively promoting new initiatives and events organized by QTBIPOC
- Ambitious and motivated individuals dedicated to building a sustainable future for THO 070 and QTBIPOC communities in The Hague in general
- Comfortable communicating in English and Dutch
- Ideally someone who has had some kind of current or past relationship with THO 070
Role/Responsibilities
Here is an overview of the role:
- Facilities Manager
The facilities manager will work with the facilities working group (made up of THO 070 community members) for the following tasks:
-Gathers list and makes budget for purchases, alterations, and things to throw out
-Makes sure some items are always in stock at the House
-Makes or contracts repairs at the House (equipment, furniture etc.)
-organizes deep clean 4x a year
-comes up with and maintains storage and organization of equipment in consultation with community
-Makes/updates guidelines for using space and equipment
-Updates/implements house use guidelines
-Advises/trains community members on space and equipment for events
-Makes and maintains inventory of equipment
-Update blueprint of space
-Comes up with safety and security measures (in consultation with CT and community)
-updating meters for gas, water
-In contact with neighbours about things like noise complaints, shared issues around the building
